My Motivation

Hello,
My name is Laura-Anne Verkest, I am 22 years old, and this year I am taking on a brand new challenge: participating for the first time in the CIBC Cycling Tour, a 400 km ride over 3 days.

For as long as I can remember, my family has always been involved, in one way or another, in raising funds for children who are sick. Whether it was climbing mountains, skiing, cycling, or taking part in different events, giving back has always been part of who we are.

This year, I’ve decided to continue this tradition in my own way by taking on a challenge that is very close to my heart. Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to get involved, and today, this is a continuation of that journey.

As a teacher, children are at the center of my everyday life. Their well-being, health, and development truly matter to me, which makes this involvement even more meaningful.

One of my biggest motivations is my godmother, who had leukemia as a child. My stepfather, who courageously fought cancer, and my cousin, who continues to battle this disease every single day, are constant sources of inspiration for me. Cancer is an incredibly difficult reality, both for children and their families, and I want to do my part to support them.
