Profile and story
Louis, 2, currently on a treatment break for an optic nerve glioma
In October 2024, when he was just six months old, Louis was diagnosed with an optic nerve glioma. His parents remember feeling completely powerless when they received the news.
“We weren’t expecting this diagnosis at all. It caused a great deal of anxiety because everything suddenly felt out of our control. As parents, the last thing you want is for your child to be sick.”
Receiving care at the Charles-Bruneau Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Unit at CHU de Québec–Université Laval, Louis recently reached an important milestone. On March 26, he completed a first series of 70 chemotherapy treatments. He is now on a treatment break, allowing his medical team to closely monitor his progress.
Originally from Sainte-Marie, this energetic little boy is full of curiosity and joy. Always smiling and eager to explore, nothing seems to slow him down. For Louis, the perfect day is spent outdoors, throwing balls and discovering new things. What he loves most in the world? Without a doubt, his family, especially his twin brother, Thomas, who always knows how to make him laugh.
Deeply grateful for the exceptional care their son receives, Louis’s parents witness the impact of Quebecers’ generosity every day. As the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau approaches, they wanted to share this message with the cyclists and supporters taking part: “Thank you for helping raise funds. Thanks to your support, the Fondation has helped improve outcomes for children diagnosed with cancer. As parents, it is important for us to pass on the value of helping others to our boys. We look forward to meeting you!”
