Charles, 13, in remission from leukemia
At 13 years old, Charles is a big fan of parkour and laser tag. As you might expect, he loves staying active. He is also lucky to be surrounded by great friends whose jokes never fail to make him laugh.
Under the care of the Charles-Bruneau Pediatric Oncology Unit at CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS, Charles now returns to the unit every four months for routine follow-up appointments. While his diagnosis changed his life overnight, he is doing very well today.
Wanting to help make a difference for future patients, Charles and his family also agreed to contribute samples for medical research. If he could have any superpower, he says he would choose the ability to heal people without hesitation.
Charles already has a clear vision of the future. He dreams of having a dog and hopes to become a radio host one day. Deeply caring and thoughtful, his idea of a perfect day reflects what matters most to him: seeing his entire family happy.
For his parents, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau feels like an extended family they can always count on. Grateful for the collective support surrounding the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau, they emphasize that advances in research helped make Charles’s treatment journey easier and reduced many of the side effects associated with care.
With heartfelt gratitude, the family shares this message with the cyclists and supporters taking part in the Tour: “Thank you for doing this for all the children and families affected by cancer.”
