For the past eight years, Team RONA cyclist Sean Fox has participated in the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau, an event that has profoundly transformed his life and enabled him to contribute to a crucial cause. His commitment began with a deeply moving personal experience: the diagnosis and death of his father from cancer. This ordeal revealed to him the seriousness of this disease, which is one of the world's leading causes of death, and the leading cause of death among children. As a parent of three children, the idea that young people could suffer the same fate as his father was unbearable. That's why he found the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau a perfect way to make a difference, combining his love of cycling with a cause that's particularly close to his heart.

Every year, his motivation remains the same: the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau allows him to channel his energy and passion for cycling into a noble cause.

To prepare physically for the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau, Sean trains regularly, integrating cycling into his weekly routine. He bikes to work at the RONA offices once a week, covering 25 km in each direction. On top of this, he does two other weekly outings, including a long one at the weekend and a shorter one before work. As the event approaches, he intensifies his training by increasing the frequency and distance of his outings, sometimes reaching over 100 km on weekends. The last week before the event, he reduces the intensity to arrive rested and ready.

To maximize his fundraising, he solicits his business partners, who often have budgets dedicated to supporting such initiatives. He also uses all the channels at his disposal: e-mails, discussions and social networks. Last year, he managed to raise $16,800, and this year his goal is an ambitious $30,000.

The support of his employer is essential. According to Sean, RONA's involvement demonstrates a shared commitment that has a positive impact in our community. One of the most inspiring moments last year was seeing Zoé, the child Sean and his team were sponsoring, beaming with joy at the closing ceremony. Her joy and energy were contagious, and she danced and socialized with everyone.

In conclusion, the cyclist wanted to say a few words to the children to make his cycling challenge all the more meaningful: "To the children for whom we are doing all this, know that you are at the heart of our efforts. You inspire us every day with your strength and resilience. Stay strong and keep believing in better days. Together, we can make a significant difference and help you realize your dreams."

Thanks to Sean Fox and his colleagues at RONA for their invaluable involvement. To encourage the cyclists who will be pedaling in the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau, make a donation to Team RONA.
