Profile and story
Jade, 16, in remission from acute lymphoblastic leukemia
At 16, Jade is a high-achieving student who takes great pride in her academic success. Passionate about reading and knitting, she also enjoys playing badminton and cycling.
Followed at the Charles-Bruneau Cancer Centre at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, Jade now attends annual follow-up appointments. Diagnosed at a very young age, she grew up alongside her medical journey and learned to navigate the challenges that continue to affect her health today.
That experience has also helped shape her future aspirations. “It’s one of the reasons I want to become a doctor,” she explains.
Ambitious and fascinated by science, Jade dreams of living abroad one day and pursuing a career in research. She greatly admires Dr. Momar Ndao for his work on parasites and considers him both an inspiring and approachable role model.
If she could have any superpower, Jade would have a hard time choosing between controlling the elements and healing others.
In the meantime, her perfect day would be filled with culture and discovery: visiting the Aquarium du Québec and Vieux-Québec, exploring local artisan shops and ending the day with a good meal at a restaurant.
For Jade and her loved ones, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau feels like an extended family, one they are always happy to reconnect with. She also wanted to share this message with the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau community: “Thanks to your participation in the Tour, you help raise the funds needed to continue advancing pediatric cancer research. Lives will be saved because of you.”
