Profile and story

Florent, 2, undergoing treatment for retinoblastoma

Florent is a two-year-old boy who is always on the move. Sociable and full of personality, he loves exploring the world around him and already knows exactly how to make himself understood.

Florent is currently receiving treatment at the Charles-Bruneau Cancer Centre at CHU Sainte-Justine. The chemotherapy treatments have left lasting effects: he now wears hearing aids and glasses. For the time being, the vision in the eye affected by the tumour remains very limited. Fortunately, his retina has reattached, and his medical team is hopeful that he may regain some vision over time.

What makes Florent laugh more than anything? His big brother. Florent looks up to him immensely, and the two of them love building forts together.

For Florent, the perfect day is spent outdoors. Rain or shine, he hops on his balance bike and heads off on an adventure. Deeply affectionate, he is happiest when surrounded by family and friends. His current dream? To captain his grandfather’s boat!

Deeply touched by the care and support they have received, Florent’s family wanted to share this special message with the healthcare professionals who care for him: “Thank you for your expertise, but above all, for your kindness and humanity. Thank you for looking us in the eye and holding our hand. Thank you for fighting every single day, with all your heart, for our children.”
