Profile and story
Daelen, 18, in remission from acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Originally from Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge, Daelen was only three years old when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This difficult journey, which deeply affected both him and his loved ones, quickly revealed the perseverance and strength of the young boy affectionately nicknamed “Didi.”
Now 18, Daelen is celebrating his remission and looking ahead with ambition. Passionate about video games and mechanics, he recently began a vocational training program in automotive mechanics. Although he continues to attend annual oncology follow-up appointments and is managing a recent diagnosis of calcified kidneys, he faces each new challenge with determination.
For Daelen, happiness is found in life’s simple pleasures: spending time with his girlfriend and creating meaningful memories with the people he loves most.
Over the years, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau has been an invaluable source of support for his family, providing comfort during some of their most difficult moments. With heartfelt gratitude, Daelen wanted to share this message with the cyclists and supporters of the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing so much sunshine into our lives.”
