Aria Bazinet, 7, in remission from a stage 4 yolk sac tumour
On March 9, 2022, little Aria’s life was turned upside down when she was rushed to CHU Sainte-Justine. Due to the health restrictions in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, only one parent was allowed to accompany her. Her father was therefore alone when he received the devastating news: his daughter had a stage 4 yolk sac tumour.
“I couldn’t hear anything anymore, and I had a very hard time understanding what was happening,” he recalls. “I asked if I could bring in my spouse, who was pregnant with our second child and waiting for us at the entrance.”
Despite the intensive treatments that followed, Aria, affectionately nicknamed “Poulette,” showed remarkable determination and maturity. Throughout her journey, she never lost her smile or her love of play.
In remission since November 2023, Aria continues to visit the hospital for regular follow-up appointments. Full of energy, she enjoys drawing, cycling, skating and gymnastics. Inspired by her role model, her primary nurse Marie-Laure, Aria already knows what she wants to be when she grows up: a nurse, so she can use her superpower to help others.
For her parents, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau has become a second family.
