Profile and story
Amilia, 11, undergoing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Amilia is an 11-year-old girl who has just finished fifth grade. She loves math, art, drawing and crafts. But her greatest passion is dancing, an activity she enjoys with her friends.
On April 27, 2025, Amilia was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Under the care of the Charles-Bruneau Cancer Centre at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, her journey has been marked by a major medical complication. Following chemotherapy-induced pancreatitis, Amilia lost 90% of her pancreas and now lives with type 1 diabetes. “We almost lost her,” her parents say, adding that despite everything, their daughter continues to show extraordinary resilience and courage.
What does Amilia miss most since her diagnosis? Travelling, going to school and spending time with her friends. She enjoys watching movies, playing Skip-Bo and spending time with her dog, Mylo.
If she could have any superpower, she would choose the ability to stop time. Her biggest dream, however, is to travel to Italy one day with her family. Until then, her perfect day would be spent at a water park with the people she loves most: her family and her friends.
For Amilia’s family, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau represents healing and an invaluable opportunity to advance research. Touched by the incredible commitment of the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau community, Amilia wanted to share this message: “Thank you for helping kids like me.”
