Alice, 7, in remission from B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Alice is a young Montrealer with a boundless imagination and a passion for creativity. Gifted with her hands, she loves drawing, painting and making arts and crafts. During the summer, she enjoys rollerblading and riding her bike, and she also takes ballet lessons.

A true nature lover, Alice simply cannot choose a favourite animal because, in her eyes, they are all amazing. Even snails and ants, with their tiny antennae, are “so cool!”

Under the care of Dr. Thai Hoa Tran at the Charles-Bruneau Cancer Centre at CHU Sainte-Justine, Alice has officially been in remission since March 2025. She returns to the hospital every two months for her medical checkups, including what she affectionately calls her “pic-pic” appointments (blood tests), and every two weeks to meet with her psychologist.

By her side through every appointment and every adventure is Buba, her favourite doll, whom she has carried with her ever since she was a baby.

Alice already has very specific plans for the future. One day, she hopes to own and operate a hotel where guests can watch the northern lights. If she could choose a superpower, she would have a hard time deciding between stopping time, living forever or transforming into anything she wants to make life easier.

The past year has brought significant challenges for this close-knit family. Just one month before Alice completed her chemotherapy treatments, her mother was also diagnosed with leukemia.

For Alice’s parents, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau has become a source of comfort, support and hope. Deeply moved by the dedication of the cyclists taking part in the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau, they wanted to share this message: “Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being there for us, for Alice and for all these children who remind us every day just how fragile, precious and worthwhile life is, despite everything.”
