Charlotte Bonenfant, a dedicated member of the Cascades team, has been taking part in the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau for the past three years. Her story is one of altruism, solidarity and determination.
From her very first year of participation, Charlotte was convinced to get involved in the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau thanks to the convergence of several elements dear to her heart. "I like to get involved in the different environments I come into contact with. As Cascades is a proud partner of the Foundation, I felt that the Foundation's values were in line with my own, as well as being a cycling enthusiast. The Tour is an event that combines all these things!
What keeps her coming back every year is the Foundation's mission and the tangible impacts of its commitment. "I love the Foundation's mission. The fact that the cure rate is increasing is particularly encouraging and drives me to keep contributing, so that all children can have a childhood free of cancer."
Charlotte knows how to motivate her colleagues to get involved. "I like to challenge them to get involved in a cause that makes a real difference. The energy palpable during the event is inexpressible."
To prepare for the Tour, she integrates cycling into her energetic daily routine and makes sure her training volume is high enough to prevent injury. She also plans outings with her colleagues to strengthen team cohesion and make training more enjoyable.
To maximize her fund-raising efforts, she coordinates the sale of toilet paper at her plant, organizes BBQs and half-and-half draws, and solicits her network, because every donation counts! As she often says: "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."
Cascades' support is a source of pride and motivation. "It makes me proud to see that the company values this kind of commitment and supports the Foundation's mission. Seeing the number of employees mobilizing for the cause is inspiring!" Her first participation in 2021 with her father and last year's finish with her parents are and will be unforgettable memories for her. That's why she would like to send this message to the cyclists: "You are good and inspiring. Thank you for your involvement, you make a difference."
To the families, she says: "We're here to support you and ensure that advances in hemato-oncological research continue. We want to make a difference in your daily lives."
