This year would have marked Julie Desjardins' fifth participation in the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau. For the third consecutive year, she would have pedaled 100 km for a childhood without cancer.
This edition of the Tour had significant significance for Julie as she celebrated a major milestone in her life on July 13: 40 years without cancer.
"Young old people" like me, who can say they have been cured of cancer for 40 years, are still rare. My dream is that in 5, 10 or 15 years, there will be a lot more of them. And that the road to that significant anniversary will be less and less arduous. While waiting for the 25th anniversary of the Tour, postponed to 2021, I continue to pedal. For me, and for them" writes Julie in an open letter published in La Presse.
