raised for pediatric cancer research.

Thirty years ago, a handful of cyclists took to the road to support pediatric cancer research. This week, nearly 750 of them came together to complete the total distance covered, after crisscrossing the roads of Quebec all week long. Together, they crossed the finish line of the 30th CIBC Tour Charles-Bruneau in Boucherville. The event raised a net total of $4,050,000, a figure that significantly exceeded the goal set for this year’s edition.

Since its inception in 1996, the Tour has raised more than $59 million—funds that have directly contributed to advancing research and care for children with cancer throughout Quebec.

The Young Heroes and Heroines: Children at the Heart of the Tour

For this 30th edition of the CIBC Charles-Bruneau Tour, more than 35 children were paired with a cyclist, and five Young Heroes and Heroines represented one of the routes:

• Jayden, age 10 — Hero of the 4-day route (Lévis) and 1-day route (Saint-Hyacinthe)
• Samy, age 4 — Hero of the 3-day route (Lévis) and 2-day route (Victoriaville)
• Xavier, age 12 — Hero of the 2-day route (Sherbrooke) and 1-day route (Bromont)
• Madeleine, age 4 — Heroine of the Discovery Course (50 and 80 km)
• Théodore, age 12 — Hero of the Long-Distance Course

Their presence serves as a reminder every year of why thousands of people choose to take on this challenge. The Charles-Bruneau Foundation thanks these children and teens, as well as their families, for agreeing to share their stories and highlight the importance of research and its tangible impacts.

Partners as Committed as Ever to the Cause

Year after year, the Charles-Bruneau Foundation can count on partners who share the same conviction as the Tour’s cyclists: CIBC, IGA, RONA, and Cascades. Their commitment—along with that of their teams and customers—has been integral to the Tour’s success for the past 30 years.

This year’s event also marked the 20th anniversary of the partnership between CIBC and the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau —representing two-thirds of the event’s history.

“For 30 years, the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau has directly funded the research that today makes it possible to cure more children—and to cure them more effectively. Every kilometer ridden, every donation, translates into hours in the lab, more precise treatments, and fewer long-term side effects. The $50 million commitment announced by the Charles-Bruneau Foundation for the next five years will continue this work. It is thanks to those who cycle, donate, and volunteer that this research moves forward. Thank you for being part of this story for the past 30 years.” — Pierre Bruneau, founder and spokesperson for the Charles-Bruneau Foundation

“As the Tour celebrated its 30th anniversary, we are proud to have marked our 20th year as a title sponsor. Over the past two decades, our team members and clients have come together to make a real difference in the lives of children with cancer. At CIBC, we believe in a world where cancer is no longer a barrier to ambition. That’s why we’re proud to support this exceptional event and help build a future free of pediatric cancer.” — Rosa Trunzo, Senior Vice President and Regional Head, Eastern Canada, CIBC
